EFFICACY OF LASER PULSE FREQUENCIES ON BLOOD FLOW IN TYPE 2 DIABETIC PATIENTS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Physiotherapy, 2017
Background: Research reports had noted an apparent increase in cutaneous and deep blood flow as a result of low-intensity laser therapy (LLLT) in normal subjects.

Autonomous Robotic Suction to Clear the Surgical Field for Hemostasis using Image-based Blood Flow Detection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Autonomous robotic surgery has seen significant progression over the last decade with the aims of reducing surgeon fatigue, improving procedural consistency, and perhaps one day take over surgery itself. However, automation has not been applied to the critical surgical task of controlling tissue and blood vessel bleeding--known as hemostasis.

Methods of blood flow modelling

open access: yes, 2016
This review is devoted to recent developments in blood flow modelling. It begins with the discussion of blood rheology and its non-Newtonian properties. After that we will present some modelling methods where blood is considered as a heterogeneous fluid ...

Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

Hepatic blood flow in late sepsis patients

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Internal Medicine, 2013
Background Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), sepsis, and severe sepsis influence total hepatic blood flow. However there are conflicting data on the time of its assessment, methodology, study design, and differentiation in terms of whether ...

Focal physiological uncoupling of cerebral blood flow and oxidative metabolism during somatosensory stimulation in human subjects.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1986
Coupling between cerebral blood flow (CBF) and cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen (CMRO2) was studied using multiple sequential administrations of 15O-labeled radiotracers (half-life, 123 sec) and positron emission tomography.

Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...

Mechanics of blood flow in capillaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper was presented at the 2nd Micro and Nano Flows Conference (MNF2009), which was held at Brunel University, West London, UK. The conference was organised by Brunel University and supported by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, IPEM, the ...

Microfluidic flow chambers using reconstituted blood to model hemostasis and platelet transfusion in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Blood platelets prepared for transfusion gradually lose hemostatic function during storage. Platelet function can be investigated using a variety of (indirect) in vitro experiments, but none of these is as comprehensive as microfluidic flow chambers.

Vortical flow structures induced by red blood cells in capillaries [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Knowledge about the flow field of the plasma around the red blood cells in capillary flow is important for a physical understanding of blood flow and the transport of micro- and nanoparticles and molecules in the flowing plasma. We conduct an experimental study on the flow field around red blood cells in capillary flow that are complemented by ...
