MICRORNA IN MONITORING OF THE EVOLUTION OF GLIAL CEREBRAL TUMORS

open access: yesСибирский онкологический журнал, 2020
Glial cerebral tumors (GCT) are primary tumors of the central nervous system that develop from glial tissue. Despite the use of combination treatment, the overall median survival rate in patients with glioblastoma, the most malignant form of HCC, is low.

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Changes in the activity of lysosomal cysteine proteases of plasma mononuclear and polymorphonuclear blood leukocytes in Alzheimer’s disease

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2020
Aim. To study the level of activity of lysosomal cysteine proteases (cathepsins H, B, L) in blood plasma and fractionated leukocytes (polymorphonuclear and mononuclear) in patients with Alzheimer’s disease in comparison with similar indicators in persons

Controlled ovarian hyperstimulation induced changes in the expression of circulatory miRNA in bovine follicular fluid and blood plasma

open access: yesJournal of Ovarian Research, 2015
BackgroundDespite its role in increasing the number of offspring during the lifetime of an individual animal, controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) may have detrimental effects on oocyte development, embryo quality and endometrial receptivity ...

A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics approach to find potential serum prognostic biomarkers in glioblastoma patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics analysis of serum samples from GB patients and healthy controls showed that high levels of IL1R2 and low levels of CRTAC1 and HRG in serum are associated with poor survival outcomes for GB patients. These circulating proteins could serve as biomarkers for the prediction of outcome in patients with GB.

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Blood, Plasma, and "Drawn Blood" Volumes in the Rat

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1947
Summary1. Blood and plasma volumes have been determined in the normal albino rat, and have been found to be approximately related to a power of body weight, the deviation being ascribed to deposition of avascular fat as the rat matures. There appeared to be no significant difference in this regard between the sexes.2.

Site-specific O-Glycosylation Analysis of Human Blood Plasma Proteins*

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Proteomics, 2015
Site-specific glycosylation analysis is key to investigate structure-function relationships of glycoproteins, e.g. in the context of antigenicity and disease progression.

Pathogen reduction of SARS-CoV-2 virus in plasma and whole blood using riboflavin and UV light

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2020
BACKGROUND Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has recently been identified as the causative agent for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The ability of this agent to be transmitted by blood transfusion has not been documented,

Raphin‐1 mediates the survival and sensitivity to radiation of pediatric‐type diffuse high‐grade glioma via phosphorylated eukaryotic initiation factor 2α‐dependent and ‐independent processes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Raphin‐1 reduces the survival of PED‐DHGG cells and enhances their radiation sensitivity through both PeIF2α‐dependent and PeIF2α‐independent mechanisms. Raphin‐1 sustains elevated levels of PeIF2α, contributing to its PeIF2α‐dependent effects. Additionally, raphin‐1 interacts with CReP to mediate a separate radiosensitizing pathway that operates ...
