THROMBOCYTOPENIA CAUSED BY INHERITED HAEMATOPOIETIC TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR MUTATION: CLINICAL PHENOTYPES AND DIAGNOSTIC CONSIDERATIONS

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal Hematology, 2016
Inherited thrombocytopenias comprise a heterogeneous group of blood disorders with abnormalities in genes related to glycoproteins and adhesion molecules, signalling pathways, cytoskeletal components, granule formation, and transcription factor complexes.

FIB‐3 index as a novel age‐independent predictor of liver fibrosis and prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma patients undergoing hepatectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Fibrosis‐3 index (FIB‐3) can stratify the risk of the survival and the recurrence‐free survival. The FIB‐3 index is a reliable, age‐independent tool for assessing liver fibrosis and prognosis in HCC patients post‐hepatectomy. Its use may improve clinical outcomes and support personalized treatment strategies. Abstract Background Liver fibrosis is a key

Association Between Distance to the Transplant Center and Survival Following Living Donor Liver Transplantation

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study investigated the impacts of distance to transplant center on posttransplant survival following LDLT. Patients living further away from the transplant center had worse graft and patient survival rates than those of patients living closer, probably due to less frequency of follow‐up visits, and living > 40 miles from our treatment center was ...

Identification of Risk Factors in Postoperative Urinary Dysfunction for Rectal Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Our study aimed to identify the incidence of risk factors for postoperative urinary dysfunction during surgery for rectal gastrointestinal stromal tumors. ABSTRACT Aim Curative resection and organ preservation are important to manage rectal gastrointestinal stromal tumors; however, postoperative quality of life, including urinary function, remains a ...

Prognostic Significance of GLIM‐Defined Malnutrition in Patients With Resectable Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Following Upfront Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
The GLIM criteria are effective prognostic predictors in patients with resectable PDAC undergoing upfront surgery. Preoperative nutritional assessment using these criteria may contribute to determining treatment plans for resectable PDAC. ABSTRACT Aim Regarding the resectability of pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC), not only anatomical factors but also ...

Harnessing the Biological Responses Induced by Nanomaterials for Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
Nanomaterial (NM)‐induced toxicity can be strategically repurposed for cancer therapy. This review summarizes the mechanism by which NMs selectively activate specific cellular processes to regulate cell fate independently. We also discussed how NMs‐induced biological responses can be leveraged as therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment.

Psychometrics of patient-reported outcomes measurement information system in von Willebrand disease, inherited platelet function disorders, and rare bleeding disorders

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Background: Patient-reported outcomes measurement information system (PROMIS) measures can be used to measure patient-reported outcomes. PROMIS measures, including computer adaptive tests (CATs) and short forms, have demonstrated the ability to ...
