Whole blood viscosity issues VII: the correlation with leucocytosis and implication on leukapheresis

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Blood hyperviscosity has been acknowledged to be a complicating factor in polycythaemia and hyperproteinaemia. Hyperleucocytosis has also been implicated in hyperviscosity and may be a basis for therapeutic leukapheresis.

Whole Blood Viscosity and Cerebral Blood Flow in Acute Ischemic Stroke

open access: yes
Existing effective treatments for ischemic stroke restore blood supply to the ischemic region using thrombolysis or mechanical removal of clot. However, it is increasingly recognized that successful removal of occlusive thrombus from the large artery ...

Whole blood viscosity: Affordances and re-evaluation of sensitivity and specificity for clinical use

open access: yes, 2022
Over the years, whole blood viscosity (WBV), an indicator of thickness and stickiness of blood has been a laboratory marker for blood stasis, and useful for monitoring several disorders including cardiovascular diseases (CVD).

Buckling‐Driven Linearity in Flexible Capacitive Pressure Sensors Based on a Three‐Dimensional Dual‐Pore Polyurethane Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible pressure sensor utilizing a 3D dual‐pore polyurethane structure is developed to overcome the intrinsic trade‐off between sensitivity and linearity. By inducing sequential buckling through distinct pore sizes and shapes, the device achieves highly linear and sensitive responses across a wide pressure range.

Effects of pentoxifylline on hemodynamic, hemorheological, and microcirculatory parameters in young SHRs during arterial hypertension development

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension, 2017
The most common form of hypertension in young adults is isolated diastolic hypertension. Diastolic arterial pressure is determined by the total peripheral resistance and depends on both vascular hindrance and blood viscosity.

Epidemiologic findings on blood viscosity.

open access: yesNippon Eiseigaku Zasshi (Japanese Journal of Hygiene), 1984
In order to obtain basic knowledge about blood viscosity, which is changed by a variety of factors and disease, this study examined variations in blood viscosity. Sex, age, season, smoking, blood pressure, vibration syndrome, various diseases and exposure to cold were considered.Blood viscosity levels in several groups were measured with a cone-plate ...
