Viscoelastic fluid flow in a 2D channel bounded above by a deformable finite thickness elastic wall

open access: yes, 2015
The steady flow of three viscoelastic fluids (Oldroyd-B, FENE-P, and Owens model for blood) in a two-dimensional channel, partly bound by a deformable, finite thickness neo-Hookean solid, is computed.

Colon‐Targeted Natural Polysaccharide‐Berberine Armored Hydrogel for the Treatment of Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this research, a novel hydrogel system targeting the colon is developed, incorporating Rhubarb polysaccharides and berberine‐loaded dendrimer. This hydrogel, forms through intermolecular hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions, accumulates in colonic tissues, effectively alleviating pathological immune hyperactivation while modulating gut ...

HbA1c and Pulsatility Index in Middle Cerebral Artery of Patients with Acute Thrombotic Stroke

open access: yesFolia Medica Indonesiana
Highlights: 1. The findings of this study indicate that clinicians should remain vigilant, as effective glycemic control, reflected by optimal HbA1c levels, does not necessarily correlate with favorable distal cerebrovascular resistance, as measured by ...

Implementing BMP‐7 Chemically Modified RNA for Bone Regeneration with 3D Printable Hyaluronic Acid‐Collagen Granular Gels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed 3D‐printable THA‐Col microgels for delivering BMP‐7 cmRNA. The key result is that hMSCs transfected on the biomaterials showed BMP‐7 secretion levels comparable to pre‐transfected hMSCs, therefore introducing a cmRNA‐activated matrix to promote bone healing.

Animal‐Free Setup of a 3D Mature Adipocyte‐Macrophage Co‐Culture to Induce Inflammation In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A completely animal‐free 3D co‐culture is developed using human fat cells and immune cells. Animal‐based materials are replaced with gellan gum hydrogel and a serum‐free medium. Immune cells are effectively activated, producing specific inflammatory signals.

A Rapid Capillary-Pressure Driven Micro-Channel to Demonstrate Newtonian Fluid Behavior of Zebrafish Blood at High Shear Rates

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Blood viscosity provides the rheological basis to elucidate shear stress underlying developmental cardiac mechanics and physiology. Zebrafish is a high throughput model for developmental biology, forward-genetics, and drug discovery.
