Assessment of Fluid Shifts of Body Compartments using Both Bioimpedance Analysis and Blood Volume Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Fluid shifts are commonplace in chronic hemodialysis patients during the intra- and interdialytic periods. In this study, we evaluated fluid shifts of body compartments using both bioimpedance spectroscopy and blood volume monitoring from the start to ...

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Serial blood volume estimation in rabbits using trivalent chromium – An exploratory study

open access: yesMethodsX, 2019
Though often used in cardiac intensive monitoring set up, simultaneous evaluation of several variables like CVP, PCWP, SVV and hTEE for fluid volume resuscitation (especially when capillary permeability is major problem than cardiac performance) is a ...

Mechanisms underlying the volume regulation of interstitial fluid by capillaries: a simulation study

open access: yesIntegrative Medicine Research, 2016
Background: Control of the extracellular fluid volume is one of the most indispensable issues for homeostasis of the internal milieu. However, complex interdependence of the pressures involved in determination of fluid exchange makes it difficult to ...

The effect of age and weight upon the blood volume of farm animals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1952
The need for a knowledge of the amount of circulating blood in man and animal has stimulated investigators in many fields of research to study and apply various methods and techniques for the quantitative determination of blood volume.

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Fluorescence Exclusion: A Simple Method to Assess Projected Surface, Volume and Morphology of Red Blood Cells Stored in Blood Bank

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2018
Red blood cells (RBC) ability to circulate is closely related to their surface area-to-volume ratio. A decrease in this ratio induces a decrease in RBC deformability that can lead to their retention and elimination in the spleen.

Total 3D imaging of phase objects using defocusing microscopy: application to red blood cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present Defocusing Microscopy (DM), a bright-field optical microscopy technique able to perform total 3D imaging of transparent objects. By total 3D imaging we mean the determination of the actual shapes of the upper and lower surfaces of a phase object.
