This chapter proposes that the character Don Ecuménico in Leopoldo Marechal’s Adán Buenosayres (1948)—the first Ulyssean novel to be written in Spanish—is a composite construction inspired by both Leopold Bloom and the real-life Argentine José Salas Subirat, the first Spanish-language translator of Ulysses.

A Bloom filter is a simple space-efficient randomized data structure for representing a set in order to support membership queries. Although Bloom filters allow false positives, for many applications the space savings outweigh this draw-back when the probability of an error is sufficiently low.
