The Bloom paradox: When not to use a Bloom filter? [PDF]

open access: yes2012 Proceedings IEEE INFOCOM, 2012
In this paper, we uncover the Bloom paradox in Bloom Filters: Sometimes, the Bloom Filter is harmful and should not be queried. We first analyze conditions under which the Bloom paradox occurs in a Bloom Filter and demonstrate that it depends on the a priori probability that a given element belongs to the represented set. We show that the Bloom paradox

Blooming in the Hypothalamus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurosciences in Rural Practice, 2019
ABSTRACTCavernomas are vascular malformations which are collections of endothelium-lined sinusoids without intervening cerebral parenchyma. Hypothalamic location of cavernoma is extremely rare. We present a case of a 34-year-old male who presented with complaints of recent memory loss and vomiting.

The Bloom Tree

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
We introduce a data structure that allows for efficient (probabilistic) presence proofs and non-probabilistic absence proofs in a bandwidth efficient and secure way. The Bloom tree combines the idea of Bloom filters with that of Merkle trees. Bloom filters are used to verify the presence, or absence of elements in a set.

Time to Bloom [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Integrity, 2010
Bloom Syndrome (BS) is an autosomal recessive disorder due to mutation in Bloom helicase (referred in literature either as BLM helicase or BLM). Patients with BS are predisposed to almost all forms of cancer. BS patients are even today diagnosed in the clinics by hyper-recombination phenotype that is manifested by high rates of Sister Chromatid ...
