Population structure of the blue jack mackerel (Trachurus picturatus) in the NE Atlantic inferred from otolith microchemistry

Fisheries Research, 2018
Abstract The blue jack mackerel, Trachurus picturatus , is an economically important fishery resource of the NE Atlantic, commonly captured around the Macaronesian islands of Azores, Madeira and Canaries, but also along coastal Portugal mainland. Despite this, information regarding the T.

Genetic diversity and population structure of the blue jack mackerel Trachurus picturatus across its western distribution

Journal of Fish Biology, 2019
Blue jack mackerel Trachurus picturatus collected at six sampling locations of the north‐east Atlantic Ocean (Azores, Madeira, Canaries, and Matosinhos, Peniche and Portimão, mainland Portugal) and one location in the Mediterranean (Sicily), were used to examine the genetic structure of this species.

Metazoan parasites of blue jack mackerelTrachurus picturatus(Perciformes: Carangidae) from Portuguese mainland waters

Journal of Helminthology, 2015
AbstractBlue jack mackerel,Trachurus picturatus,is a carangid fish which constitutes an important commercial resource in the north-east Atlantic. Its metazoan parasite community from Portuguese mainland waters was investigated here for the first time. Nine parasite taxa were found, most of which are common parasites ofTrachurusspp.

Life history parameters of blue jack mackerelTrachurus picturatus(Teleostei: Carangidae) from north-east Atlantic

Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 2014
Blue jack mackerelTrachurus picturatusmonthly samples were collected between 1998 and 2011 to determine morphometric relationships, maturity, growth rates, reproduction and spawning seasonality in north-east Atlantic waters (ICES area Xa2). A total of 2895 specimens were sampled, ranging from 98 to 542 mm in fork-length (LF).

Consumption of mesopelagic prey in the Strait of Messina, an upwelling area of the central Mediterranean Sea: feeding behaviour of the blue jack mackerel Trachurus picturatus (Bowdich, 1825)

Deep Sea Research Part I: Oceanographic Research Papers, 2020
Abstract This study describes for the first time the feeding behaviour and mesopelagic food consumption of adult Trachurus picturatus in the Strait of Messina (central Mediterranean Sea), where the distinctive hydrodynamic regime and the lunar cycle influence food availability for this predator.

Blue jack mackerel (Trachurus picturatus) in Subdivision Xa2 (Azores)

open access: yes, 2022
This  is  the  first  time  that  ICES  analyses  data  for  Trachurus  picturatus  in  the  waters  of  the  Azores.  The  lpue  indices  show  increasing  trends,  but  the  exploitation  status  is  unknown,  therefore  on  the  basis  of  precautionary considerations, catches should not be allowed to increase.

Effects of Time-Temperature Abuses on Quality Parameters of Frozen Blue Jack Mackerel (Trachurus picturatus) Fillets Treated with Green Tea Extract

INCREaSE 2019, 2019
Seafood is highly perishable. Freezing and frozen storage of seafood is a widely and increasingly used and efficient method that allows for prolonged shelf-life with only minor changes in terms of products’ quality. Notwithstanding, even at freezing temperatures (−18 to −20 °C), undesirable effects might occur, particularly in case of inadequate ...
