Abstract Rodent population cycles are observed in highly seasonal environments. As most rodents are herbivorous, the availability and the quality of their food resources vary greatly across seasons. Furthermore, it is well documented that herbivore densities have a measurable effect on vegetation and, conversely, that vegetation dynamics can influence ...

Seed dispersal by brown bears promotes trophic facilitation in a human‐dominated landscape
Abstract Seed dispersal is a key ecological process with wide‐ranging implications for plant population dynamics, forest regeneration, and biodiversity maintenance. The role of carnivores and omnivores as endozoochorous dispersers is increasingly acknowledged.

Abstract Pesticides are used around the world to control and suppress undesirable species. In many cases the direct effects of pesticides are well understood and characterized, describing how environments are likely to be altered. However, these direct effects are likely to cause other species to respond to ecosystem alteration. For example, herbicides

Composition of chloroform extractable surface wax from fruit was determined by GC and GC/MS. The major components of Saskatoon berry wax were nonacosan‐10‐ol and nonacosane. Canadian sour cherry wax was enriched in the pentacyclic triterpenoids and haskap in nonacosan‐10‐ol and nonacosan‐5,10,‐diol. Red twinberry wax contained triterpenoids.

Natural compounds regulate gut microbiota by improving microbial balance and increasing probiotics, which boost short‐chain fatty acid production to alleviate insulin resistance and inflammation. Additionally, they stimulate appetite‐suppressing hormones through bile acid signaling, while inhibiting pathogenic bacteria to repair intestinal barrier ...
