Clinical Approach and Successful Intervention of Congenital Hydrocephalus in Neonatal Calf
A neonatal calf with congenital hydrocephalus, characterized by a dome‐shaped cranial vault, was treated with gradual drainage of cerebrospinal fluid and a horizontal mattress suture. The calf exhibited neurological improvement following surgery. At 12‐day follow‐up, normal behaviour and growth were observed with no neurological deficits.

Bluetongue: a historical and epidemiological perspective with the emphasis on South Africa [PDF]
Bluetongue (BT) is a non-contagious, infectious, arthropod transmitted viral disease of domestic and wild ruminants that is caused by the bluetongue virus (BTV), the prototype member of the Orbivirus genus in the family Reoviridae.

Pixelated pathologies: Camera trapping as a tool for monitoring wildlife health
Given the increasing emergence of diseases, some with conservation and public health implications, improving and expanding wildlife health surveillance strategies is imperative. Camera trapping is particularly relevant for detecting new outbreaks, monitoring high‐risk zones and evaluating risk mitigation measures. Abstract Camera trapping has become an

ABSTRACT Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) are nanosized vesicles naturally secreted by Gram‐negative bacteria and represent a promising platform for vaccine development. OMVs possess inherent immunostimulatory properties due to the presence of pathogen‐associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), providing self‐adjuvanting capabilities and the ability to ...

Structural constraints in the packaging of bluetongue virus genomic segments. [PDF]
The mechanism used by bluetongue virus (BTV) to ensure the sorting and packaging of its 10 genomic segments is still poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the packaging constraints for two BTV genomic segments from two different serotypes ...

Animal Diseases Caused by Orbiviruses, Algeria
Antibodies against bluetongue virus were detected in cattle, sheep, goats, and camels in Algeria in 2008. Antibodies against epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus were detected in cattle, but antibodies against African horse sickness virus were not ...

Genomic analysis of bluetongue virus episystems in Australia and Indonesia
The distribution of bluetongue viruses (BTV) in Australia is represented by two distinct and interconnected epidemiological systems (episystems)—one distributed primarily in the north and one in the east.

BLUETONGUE DISEASE - EPIZOOTIOLOGY SITUATION IN SERBIA IN 2015, DIAGNOSIS AND DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS
Bluetongue disease is non-contagious, vector borne, viral disease mainly of sheep but also of other domestic and wild ruminants. Bluetongue virus (BTV) belongs to the family Reoviridae, genus Orbivirus and is characterized by segmented double-stranded ...
