Bmo‐miR‐3351 modulates glutathione content and inhibits BmNPV proliferation by targeting BmGSTe6 in Bombyx mori

Insect Science
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non‐coding RNAs that play pivotal roles in the host response to invading pathogens. Among these pathogens, Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is one of the main causes of substantial economic losses in sericulture, and ...

piggyBac transposon-derived targeting shRNA interference against the Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV)

Molecular Biology Reports, 2014
The Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is one of the most destructive diseases in silkworm, which has caused the main damage to sericulture industry. In this study, we developed a system of RNAi to prevent the BmNPV infection using the piggyBac transposon-derived targeting short hairpin RNA (shRNA) interference.

Identification and characterization of BmNPV Bm5 protein required for the formation of nuclear vesicle structures.

Journal of General Virology, 2023
BmNPV infection induces nuclear vesicle-like structures and its Bm5 protein mediates the intranuclear lipid accumulation, which is thought to participate in the formation of nuclear vesicles.

Fast identification of the BmNPV infected silkworms by portable NIR spectroscopy and chemometrics.

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy
A convenient, low-cost, and rapid detection of BmNPV-infected silkworms is of great significance for the safety of the sericulture industry. In this study, a portable NIR system was used to collect the spectra of normal silkworms and the infected silkworms induced by the administration of Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV).

Bombyx mori Rad23 (BmRad23) contributes to the repair of UV-damaged BmNPV

Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 2020
Baculoviruses have been developed as long-term and environmentally friendly biopesticides. However, solar ultraviolet radiation can reduce the activity of baculovirus. Radiation sensitive 23 (Rad23) can recognize DNA damage and is involved with nucleotide excision repair (NER).

MicroRNA bmo-miR-31-5p inhibits apoptosis and promotes BmNPV proliferation by targeting the CYP9e2 gene of Bombyx mori.

Pest Management Science
BACKGROUND Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV), as a typical baculovirus, is the primary pathogen that infects the silkworm B. mori, a lepidopteran species.

Biochemical analysis of BmNPV attachment toBombyx mori BmN-4 cells

Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering, 1997
Binding characteristics ofBombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) toB. mori BmN-4 cells was determined. The cells had a single class of BmNPV-binding sites and displayed a low binding capacity for BmNPV in the range of 70 sites per cell. The biochemical nature of BmNPV-binding sites on the cell surface was identified.

Phenotypic diversity of BmNPV isolated from different geographical locations of south India

Research Journal of Chemistry and Environment, 2021
Viral diseases take the lives of n number of silkworms each year resulting in 30-40% of average crop loss. Grasserie is one of the deadly diseases caused by NPV (Nuclear Polyhedrosis virus) for silkworm. BmNPV was observed throughout the year with increased severity in the summer and autumn crops.

Effects of baculovirus infection on intestinal microflora of BmNPV resistant and susceptible strain silkworm

Journal of Economic Entomology
Bombyx mori L. (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae) nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is a serious pathogen causing huge economic losses to sericulture. There is growing evidence that the gut microbiota of silkworms plays a critical role in shaping host responses and ...
