Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

CONDITIONS FOR BODIES TO BE IN BALANCE

open access: yes
The article "Conditions for Bodies to be in Equilibrium" (Conditions for Physical Education) analyzes the conditions necessary for a physical system to reach a state of equilibrium. Equilibrium is a state that occurs when the forces within the system are equal to each other, which is important for physical, mechanical, and biochemical systems.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Establishing a weight-length baseline for evaluating changes in yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacores) body condition in the Western Indian Ocean

open access: yes, 2013
Standard weight (Ws) equations were established for yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) in the Western Indian Ocean and used as a baseline for calculating relative weight (Wr) indices.

Does a bigger mouth make you fatter? Linking intraspecific gape variability to body condition of a tropical predatory fish

open access: yes, 2019
In gape-limited predators, gape size restricts the maximum prey size a predator is capable to ingest. However, studies investigating the energetic consequences of this relationship remain scarce.

Assessing Body Condition in Birds

open access: yes, 1996
Important biological concepts typically have many definitions. Body condition is no exception; it is a multi-level phenomenon that can be defined either conceptually or operationally. Although at this time there is no clear consensus on the definition for body condition, conceptually, the term in many cases describes the degree to which an organism’s ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

The genetic relationship between commencement of luteal activity and calving interval, body condition score, production, and linear type traits in Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle

open access: yes, 2002
The decline of fertility in the UK dairy herd and the unfavorable genetic correlation (r(a)) between fertility and milk yield has necessitated the broadening of breeding goals to include fertility.

DNA metabarcoding provides new insight into the diet of invasive chital deer (Axis axis) in a tropical savanna landscape

open access: yesEcosphere
The introduction of non‐native species into new environments can cause significant ecological harm and is considered a major conservation threat. As populations of invasive species continue to establish and increase across the globe, novel methods can ...
