Evaluation of a Competition Wheelchair Based on Estimation of Muscle Activity for Forward Linear Operation by Using Inverse Dynamics Analysis

open access: yesProceedings, 2018
The objective of this study was to evaluate an optimum structure for a rugby wheelchair by estimating the muscle force during forward linear operation of the wheelchair using an inverse dynamics analysis.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

School Nutrition Standards and Childhood Obesity Prevention: Assessing Policy Compliance and Long-term Health Effects in Low-Income Communities in Pakistan

open access: yesAllied Medical Research Journal
Background: Childhood obesity is an escalating crisis in Pakistan, exacerbated in low-income communities by obesogenic food environments. The national School Health and Nutrition (SHN) Strategy aims to create healthier school food spaces, but its real ...

A predictive model for vertical ground reaction force during incline push-ups

open access: yesScientific Reports
Push-ups enhance upper body strength without special equipment, yet the impact of different inclinations on intensity is not well-understood. Although the load-velocity relationship is established in resistance training, its relevance to push-ups needs ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

A new method for predicting the vortex induced aerodynamic characteristics of a body of revolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The problem of mathematically modelling the symmetric vortex pair formed on the lee side of a body of revolution at moderate incidence to the freestream direction is addressed with a view to predicting its aerodynamic characteristics.

A robust sagittal plane hexapedal running model with serial elastic actuation and simple periodic feedforward control

open access: yes, 2013
In this article we present a sagittal plane, sprawled posture hexapedal running model with distributed body inertia, massless legs and serial elastic actuation at the hips as well as along the telescoping legs.
