Method for Measurement of Body Image

open access: yesJournal of Robotics and Mechatronics, 1996
The method for the measurement of a body image by a video processing system was developed. Body images were compared between 10 normal university female students (aged 19-24) and 11 female anorexia nervosa patients (aged 20-30). The patient group was more interested in their body images, and the distortion of body images for the patient group was very ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Analysis of growth dynamics of the Czech warm-blood based on results of grading of colts in rearing facilities for testing young horses

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2012
The objective of the study was to analyse the dynamics of growth of the Czech warm-blood young horses and to evaluate the effect of rearing facilities for testing young horses (RFT) on the increase in body measurements of the young horses.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Repeatability of Body Measurements in the Turkey

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1966
Abstract Several methods have been used to measure various aspects of body conformation of the turkey. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the repeatability of measurements of shank length, keel length, breast width, and body depth. Shank length, keel length, and body depth were determined to the nearest one-eighth of an inch by a ...
