Seismic structure of the Bohai Bay Basin, northern China: Implications for basin evolution
Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 2005As part of an extensive seismic research program, 33 portable broadband seismic stations were deployed along a line crossing the Bohai Bay Basin, northern China. Three teleseismic events were selected to constrain the seismic structure along a ~280 km profile across the western edge of the basin.

Petroleum resources in the Nanpu sag, Bohai Bay Basin, eastern China
AAPG Bulletin, 2018The Nanpu sag is an important secondary tectonic division of the Bohai Bay Basin and has an area of 1532 km2 (591 mi2), of which 1000 km2 (386 mi2) has been explored near Bohai. Recently, exploration has gradually shifted from continental to beach to shallow-marine settings, with significant exploration breakthroughs having occurred in the Nanpu 1, 2 ...

Palaeogene structural evolution of Dongying Depression, Bohai Bay Basin, NE China
International Geology Review, 2016ABSTRACTBased on the new all-covering 3D seismic data and the drilling-logging data, we established the sequence stratigraphic framework for Dongying Depression and identified two kinds of structural systems in Palaeogene, i.e. the extensional structural system and the transtensional structural system.

The Décollement Structures in Jiyang Depression, Bohai Bay Basin, China
Chinese Journal of Geophysics, 2008AbstractThis paper uses seismic, drilling, and oil‐exploitation data to study the strata, structural deformation and the physical properties of rocks in the Jiyang Depression. The result shows the existence of décollement structures. The décollement structures occurred mainly along the unconformity surface between the Cambrian and Archean, and the ...

Oil-source correlation in Qingdong sag of Bohai Bay basin, China
Petroleum Science and Technology, 2016ABSTRACTGeochemical experiments on 11 cores and 14 crude oil/oil sand samples from Qingdong sag have been performed. The oils range from immature to mature and some of the oils suffered biodegradation. The Es3l member of the Shahejie Formation (group A) deposits under fresh water.

Oil/gas distribution patterns in Dongying Depression, Bohai Bay Basin
Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2004The Dongying Depression is one of the typical Paleogene half graben faulted sub-basins in China. It is characterized by its unique petroleum geology. During Mesozoic and Cenozoic times, differential block faulting created a complex structural framework, which in turn led to the formation of different trap types and oil/gas distributions in different ...

Formation mechanism of organic-rich source rocks in Bozhong sub-basin, Bohai Bay basin, China
Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2019As the main source rocks, the third member of Shahejie Formation (Es3), the first member of Shahejie Formation (Es1) and the third member of Dongying Formation (Ed3) have abundant oil reserves. However, the formation mechanism is unclear, especially the paleoproductivity.

Geologic Features of the Petroleum ‐ rich Sags in the Bohai Bay Basin
Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 2008Abstract: More than 40 years have been passed since exploration and development of oil‐gas began in the Bohai Bay Basin. Though we have faced with many difficulties during our exploration, exciting discoveries in petroleum‐rich sags have been made in recent years.

Evidence of Formation Overpressure Caused by Tectonic Compression in Bohai Bay Basin
Day 3 Wed, May 04, 2022, 2022Abstract Pore overpressure is widely developed in Paleogene strata of Bohai Bay. It is traditionally believed that overpressure in this area is caused by unbalanced compaction of thick mudstone and hydrocarbon generation of organic matter. By using Eaton formula to calculate an exploration well that encountered overpressure in the strike-
