Seeing the wood despite the trees: Exploring human disturbance impact on plant diversity, community structure, and standing biomass in fragmented high Andean forests. [PDF]
High Andean forests play a key role in providing ecosystem services for neighboring urban settlements. Here, we aimed to identify and understand the effects of anthropogenic perturbations on diversity, composition, and structure of plant communities, as well as aboveground biomass in high Andean forest remnants in the hinterland of Bogotá.

Floral Roles in Hummingbirds-Mediated Indirect Plant Interactions in Tropical Andean Communities. [PDF]
Hummingbirds connect plants by moving pollen. Some flowers primarily donate, while, others primarily receive, and these shifting roles influence plant reproductive success depending on abundance and nectar rewards, shaping plant reproduction in the tropical Andes. Chord diagrams represent heterospecific pollen transfer among 31 flowering species across

Schinus terebinthifolius Essential Oil Attenuates Scopolamine-Induced Memory Deficits via Cholinergic Modulation and Antioxidant Properties in a Zebrafish Model. [PDF]
Schinus terebinthifolius is a plant well recognized for its therapeutic profile such as anti‐inflammatory and antitumor activities, promoting antibacterial activity and antioxidant and antidiabetic properties. This study aimed at examining whether Schinus terebinthifolius memory‐enhancing activities are mediated by cholinergic and brain antioxidant ...

Tracking Small Animals in Complex Landscapes: A Comparison of Localisation Workflows for Automated Radio Telemetry Systems. [PDF]
Automated radio telemetry grids provide the possibility of studying movement of small animals at very fine spatial scales, but the influence of rugged terrains and vegetation on localisation error curtails the applicability of this technology. In this study, we present a comparative workflow to reduce error and show how selecting higher radio signal ...

Piacenzian Environmental Change and the Onset of Cool and Dry Conditions in Tropical South America
Abstract The Piacenzian (3.60–2.58 Ma) covers the last stage of the Neogene just before the Earth's climate turned from relatively stable warm conditions to the cooler climate with high amplitude glacial‐interglacial oscillations of the Pleistocene.
