Diagnostic accuracy of CBCT versus intraoral imaging for assessment of peri‐implant bone defects

open access: yesBMC Medical Imaging, 2021
Background Early detection of marginal bone loss is vital for treatment planning and prognosis of teeth and implant. This study was conducted to assess diagnostic accuracy of CBCT compared to intra-oral (IO) radiography for detection, classification, and

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness

Bone printing: new frontiers in the treatment of bone defects

open access: yesInjury, 2015
Bone defects can be congenital or acquired resulting from trauma, infection, neoplasm and failed arthroplasty. The osseous reconstruction of these defects is challenging. Unfortunately, none of the current techniques for the repair of bone defects has proven to be fully satisfactory.

Study of the repair of femoral bone defects using adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) on Chitosan - Gelatin membrane in rats (biomechanical and radiological evaluations)

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ’Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Shahīd Ṣadūqī Yazd, 2015
Background and purpose: Adipose - drived stem cells are multipotent cells that capable to diffrentiate in to osteogenic cells. On the other hand, the scaffold of chitosan and gelatin are biodegradable and compatible used for tissue repair.

Guided bone regeneration for the reconstruction of alveolar bone defects

open access: yesAnnals of Maxillofacial Surgery, 2017
Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is the most common technique for localized bone augmentation. The purpose of this review was to categorize and assess various GBR approaches for the reconstruction of human alveolar bone defects.Electronic search of four databases including PubMed/Medline, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane and hand searching were ...

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Arthroscopic Bilateral Autologous Iliac Crest Bone Grafting for Restoring Large Bipolar Bone Loss in Anterior Shoulder Dislocation

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
In anterior shoulder dislocation, the bipolar bone defect is a severe condition that could impair the stability of the shoulder joint. The bone-grafting technique is an effective method to restore the glenoid defect.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
