Twisting the bone marrow stem cell niche
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are the source of blood cells over the whole lifespan of mammals. HSC locate in the bone marrow microenvironment in the so-called bone marrow stem cell niche. This niche consists of multiple cell types, such as endothelial cells, mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), CXCL12-

We have developed DEX/GM, an all‐natural, personalizable hybrid vaccine designed by coating dendritic cell‐derived exosomes (DEX) onto tumor cell membranes (GM) for sustained prophylaxis against glioblastoma (GBM). ABSTRACT Glioblastoma (GBM), one of the most aggressive and lethal brain tumors, remains incurable with a poor clinical prognosis.

The role of bone marrow derived cells in cardiac repair
PhDCurrent pharmacological therapies fail to address the final end-point of cardiac ischaemia — the death and dysfunction of cardiomyocytes. Advances in stem cell biology have provided hope, for the first time, of addressing this underlying pathology.

The periosteum, a tissue lining the bone surface, and the bone marrow are known to contain bone-forming cells. Here the authors show that skeletal stem cells reside in the mouse periosteum, and that periosteal cells have common embryonic origins with ...

Mechanisms of Aging in Bone Marrow Stem Cells
Settling into middle-age typically brings the unpleasant realization that many things don’t work quite like they used to. Spicy foods cause gastric distress. Muscles lose tone and agility. Wounds take longer to heal. Theories of aging abound and genetics clearly plays some role, but there’s little disagreement that the body’s maintenance and repair ...
