Bioactive Glass Microscaffolds Fabricated by Two‐Photon Lithography

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Microstructuring of bioactive glasses offers great potential to influence cell behavior for bone tissue engineering. By utilizing two‐photon lithography of a nanocomposite and thermal post‐processing, single‐micron features and complex structures are achieved.

The composition of mineral waters sourced from Europe and North America in respect to bone health: composition of mineral water optimal for bone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The consumption of mineral waters is increasing in industrialised countries. High intakes of Ca and other alkalising cations as well as a low acid intake are beneficial to bone.

Mechanical Interactions Impact the Functions of Immune Cells and Their Application in Immunoengineering

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
This review covers the mechanical forces experienced by immune cells through cell–cell and cell–extracellular matrix interactions and how these forces influence their receptors and functions. These relationships between forces and cellular functions can be exploited using engineering techniques to modify the physical properties of materials for novel ...

Human Bone‐Derived Endothelial Cells Mediate Bone Regeneration via Distinct Expression of KIT Ligand

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone‐specific endothelial cells (b‐ECs) uniquely express KITLG, which recruits c‐Kit+/CD34+ hematopoietic progenitors (HPCs) to the osteovascular niche, initiating a cascade that culminates in the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (bm‐MSCs) and subsequent ossification.

Modification of os calcis bone mineral profiles during bedrest [PDF]

open access: yes
The mineral content of the left central os calcis was determined using the photon absorptiometric technique modified for the space missions to permit area scanning, and was compared with total body calcium balance changes.

PSMD14 Stabilizes SLC7A11 to Ameliorate Glucocorticoid‐Induced Osteoporosis by Suppressing Osteocyte Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glucocorticoid‐induced osteoporosis (GIOP) triggers osteocyte ferroptosis via SLC7A11 degradation. PSMD14 stabilizes SLC7A11 by counteracting glucocorticoid‐driven ubiquitination, preserving cystine uptake and glutathione synthesis. AAV‐mediated PSMD14 delivery or its agonist Pantethine rescues osteocyte survival and bone loss in GIOP mice.
