Nerve Growth Factor is Sufficient to Cause Multiple Osteoarthritis‐Relevant Pathologic Features in Naïve Murine Knee Joints

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Volume 78, Issue 11, Page 2246-2260, November 2026.
Objective Nerve growth factor (NGF), a key mediator of pain, is increased in osteoarthritic (OA) joints. Antibodies against NGF show analgesic effects in painful knee OA, but clinical development was stopped because of side effects in the joints. Knowledge about the biologic effects of NGF on joint tissues is limited. Therefore, we explored the effects

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation: A Promising Therapeutic Strategy Targeting the Microbiota–Gut–Brain Axis in Anorexia Nervosa

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 11, November 2026.
Gut dysbiosis in anorexia nervosa may impair microbiota–gut–brain signaling through metabolic, immune, and vagal pathways. Fecal microbiota transplantation is being investigated as a potential strategy to restore host–microbiome balance, support a healthier microbial composition, and improve gastrointestinal function, appetite, and mood.

Resveratrol Modulates Bone Metabolism Through SIRT1‐Mediated NF‐κB Inhibition: Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesCell Biochemistry and Function, Volume 44, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Osteoporosis and associated skeletal pathologies impose a staggering global health burden, disproportionately impacting elderly populations and postmenopausal women. At the root of excessive bone resorption and stalled osteogenesis lie persistent oxidative stress and chronic inflammation.

Body Composition Phenotypes and Their Metabolic Associations in Treatment‐Naïve Patients With Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes: A DXA‐Based Cluster Analysis

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 6, November 2026.
Using dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry clustering of 185 treatment‐naïve type 2 diabetes patients, we identified four body‐composition phenotypes. Central‐obesity and high‐fat–high‐muscle clusters carried the highest fatty liver disease and hyperuricemia risk, whereas the low‐muscle cluster carried the highest osteoporosis risk.

Age‐Related Patterns of Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) Symptoms and Key Performance Factors in Adolescent Biathletes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) impairs health and performance, but age‐related patterns in its emergence remain unclear. This study examines RED symptoms in adolescent biathletes at season‐start and their link to end‐of‐season performance.

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy With Low Appendicular Muscle Mass Is Associated With Osteoporosis, Falls, and Fractures

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 18, Issue 11, November 2026.
Diabetics have higher risks of osteoporosis, falls, and fractures; higher grip strength predicts lower risks. In both cross‐sectional and longitudinal data, diabetic patients with both peripheral neuropathy and low appendicular muscle mass have the highest risks of osteoporosis and falls.

Women With Bipolar Disorder are at Increased Risk of Sarcopenia

open access: yesBipolar Disorders, Volume 28, Issue 7, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction While bipolar disorder is associated with significant comorbidity, little is known about the musculoskeletal health of individuals with bipolar disorder. Thus, we aimed to investigate the association between bipolar disorder and muscle strength, mass, quality and sarcopenia.
