Bone regeneration is one of the focus points in the field of regenerative medicine. A well-known stimulus of bone formation is bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2), which has already been extensively used in clinical applications. However, due to a short half-life, supraphysiological doses are applied resulting in severe side effects such as ectopic ...

Our previous work showed that the expression of bone morphogenetic protein‐4 (BMP4) was up‐regulated in pathological cardiac hypertrophy models and BMP4 induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and apoptosis. Bone morphogenetic protein‐2 (BMP2) and BMP4 share greater than 80% amino acid homology and there exists an interaction between BMP2 and BMP4, so the ...

Repair of Bone Allograft Fracture Using Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 2002Long-term clinical data have shown that reconstruction using bone allografts provide adequate function after extensive tumor surgery. Complications such as nonunion of allograft-host interface, infection, and allograft fracture often require major revision surgeries.

Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 Coordinates Early Tooth Mineralization
Journal of Dental Research, 2018Formation of highly organized dental hard tissues is a complex process involving sequential and ordered deposition of an extracellular scaffold, followed by its mineralization. Odontoblast and ameloblast differentiation involves reciprocal and sequential epithelial-mesenchymal interactions.

Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 Therapy for Craniofacial Surgery
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2008Between 2 and 10 years of age, the developing craniofacial skeleton poses a significant reconstructive challenge. Local autogenous bone is largely unavailable, distant bone grafts are fraught with significant morbidity and limited yield, and alloplastic materials are incompatible with the growing calvarium and facial skeleton.

RECOMBINANT HUMAN BONE MORPHOGENETIC PROTEIN-2
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery-American Volume, 2003It has been several decades since Marshall Urist's discovery of osteoinductive activity within demineralized bone protein extracts. Initially described in Science in 1965 1, Dr. Urist's remarkable discovery, an unexpected byproduct of intended research on the competitive binding of radionucleotides during bone mineralization, suggested that ...

Potential of Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 in Bone Regeneration
Implant Dentistry, 1999Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP-2) has been used as a bone substitute. This article describes the rhBMP-2 structure, mechanisms of action, carriers, advantages, safety, and recent clinical studies relevant to dentistry.

Healing Bone Using Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 and Copolymer
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1998Middiaphyseal 2.5-cm segmental defects in the right femurs of 12 sheep were stabilized with stainless steel plates and implanted with (1) 2 mg recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 and poly[D,L-(lactide-co-glycolide)] bioerodible polymer with autologous blood (n = 7), (2) 4 mg recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 and poly[D,L ...

Bone morphogenetic protein‐2 for peri‐implant bone regeneration and osseointegration
Clinical Oral Implants Research, 1997Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein‐2 (rhBMP‐2) induced bone regeneration and osseointegration was evaluated in supra‐alveolar peri‐implant defects in 5 beagle dogs. Alveolar bone was reduced 5 mm in height in mandibular premolar areas and the premolars were extracted.
