Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Engineering Pendant Group Chemistry to Control Hydrophilicity and Oxidative Degradation of Thioketal‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thioketal (TK) polymers are promising biomaterials due to their selective biodegradation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), but they respond slowly to physiologic doses of ROS. Here, the TK bond's pendant groups are modified to enhance the degradation of TK‐based implants both in vitro and in vivo.

Clinical result of sintered bovine hydroxyapatite bone substitute: analysis of the interface reaction between tissue and bone substitute

open access: yes
[[abstract]]Background: Autogenic bone graft is the first choice for managing bone defects. However, donor site-associated morbidity and limited bone volume are constraints in clinical applications.

Bone integration of an injectable calcium phosphate based bone substitute

open access: yes, 2004
The bone formation and bone integration in calcium phosphate (CaP) and CaP with 20% calcium sulfate (CaS) were investigated. In the study, six adult, loop-eared rabbits were used and bone harvest chambers were implanted bilaterally in the proximal tibiae.
