Merkel cell carcinoma: an updated guide for pathologists

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.

Additional sectioning and AI‐assisted diagnosis reveal underdiagnosis of serous (pre)malignancies in fallopian tube specimen from BRCA1/2 carriers

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
This paper shows that deeper sections reveal additional STICs and HGSCs in risk‐reducing salpingo‐oophorectomy specimens of patients who did not have a STIC or HGSC diagnosis but did develop peritoneal HGSC 10 years after surgery. This adds to the premise that HGSC originates in the fallopian tube.

Development and application of a frailty index derived from patient‐reported outcome measures and comorbidities in oncology patients

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Emerging evidence supports the use of a frailty index as an objective measure of frailty. We constructed a frailty index from patient‐derived outcome measures, as well as self‐reported comorbidity data, and tested its correlation with survival.
