Controlled Human Infection With Bordetella pertussis Induces Asymptomatic, Immunizing Colonization
Background Bordetella pertussis is among the leading causes of vaccine-preventable deaths and morbidity globally. Human asymptomatic carriage as a reservoir for community transmission of infections might be a target of future vaccine strategies, but has ...

Toll-like receptor 4 limits transmission of Bordetella bronchiseptica. [PDF]
Transmission of pathogens has been notoriously difficult to study under laboratory conditions leaving knowledge gaps regarding how bacterial factors and host immune components affect the spread of infections between hosts.

The conserved region of HA2 peptide of Influenza A virus was expressed on the surface of Protein VIII from M13 phage. Immunization of broiler chickens by this hybrid phage showed high levels of antibody responses, highlighting its potential as a promising tool for universal vaccine development against Influenza A virus.

Necrotizing pneumonia and empyema caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum are uncommon. The classical presentation of Lemierre′s syndrome, characterized by pharyngotonsillitis and internal jugular vein thrombosis, is not always observed, and incomplete and atypical variants can cause diagnostic uncertainty and delay in treatment.

Bordetella pertussis whole cell immunization protects against Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections
Whole cell vaccines are complex mixtures of antigens, immunogens, and sometimes adjuvants that can trigger potent and protective immune responses. In some instances, such as whole cell Bordetella pertussis vaccination, the immune response to vaccination ...
