Zoonotic Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Ehrlichia canis, Dirofilaria immitis, Borrelia burgdorferi, and spotted fever group rickettsiae (SFGR) in different types of dogs

open access: closedParasitology Research, 2018
Dogs can carry and share zoonotic pathogens with humans. This problem is understudied in different parts of the world, including Jordan. This study determined the prevalence of Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Ehrlichia canis, Dirofilaria immitis, and Borrelia burgdorferi using the SNAP 4Dx Plus test and spotted fever group rickettsiae (SFGR) using enzyme ...

[Longevity of forest and taiga ticks (Ixodidae) infected and non-infected with Borrelia burgdorferi groups].

open access: closedParazitologiia, 2004
A life longevity of Ixodes ricinus and I. persulcatus have been examined in laboratory conditions. It was found that specimens infected with borreliae live slightly longer than non-infected ones (difference is not reliable); females live 1.5 times longer than males; I. ricinus lives 2-4 times longer than I. persulcatus.

Identification of four genomic groups ofBorrelia burgdorferi sensu lato inIxodes ricinus ticks collected in a Lyme borreliosis endemic region of northern Croatia

Experimental & Applied Acarology, 1996
We investigated the presence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in Ixodes ricinus ticks collected in a Lyme borreliosis (LB) endemic region of northern Croatia. Ticks (n = 124) were collected at five locations and analysed by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A DNA fragment from the internal transcribed spacer (ITS2) of I.

The presence of anti-Borrelia burgdorferi antibodies in a group of multiple sclerosis patients in eastern Sicily. Preliminary data.

open access: closedActa neurologica, 1993
The authors evaluate the presence of anti-Borrelia burgdorferi antibodies in a group of polysclerotic patients of Eastern Sicily, in order to verify or dismiss a correlation between Borrelia infection and demyelinizing syndrome. 460 samples of serum were examined, of which 60 belonged to patients affected by definite multiple sclerosis; the other 400 ...

Vaccination against Lyme disease with recombinant Borrelia burgdorferi outer-surface lipoprotein A with adjuvant. Lyme Disease Vaccine Study Group.

The New England journal of medicine, 1998
The risk of acquiring Lyme disease is high in areas in which the disease is endemic, and the development of a safe and effective vaccine is therefore important. We conducted a multicenter, double-blind, randomized trial involving 10,936 subjects who lived in areas of the United States in which Lyme disease is endemic.

Zhonghua liu xing bing xue za zhi = Zhonghua liuxingbingxue zazhi, 2010
To understand the coinfection status of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (B.b.s.l) and spotted fever group Rickettsia (SFGR) in Hunchun of Jilin province, China.Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to detect the 5S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer of B. b. s. l and ompA of SFGR in ticks was collected in Hunchun,Jilin province.
