Known from Brazil and Uruguay, at the southern portion of the South American open diagonal (Plt. 76A). Recorded in Atlantic Forest and Pampas Grasslands(Plt. 76A) at low elevations (Plt. 76B). Previous maps and taxonomy in Silva and Rodrigues (2008).

Abstract The organization and function of reptilian excurrent ducts remain poorly characterized, particularly in Neotropical snakes. We provide the first integrative morphological, histochemical, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural analysis of the proximal post‐testicular ducts of Crotalus durissus across reproductive stages.

Snakes are notable for having a broad range of predators and one of the most diverse repertoires of defensive behaviors. During heightened responses to aversive stimuli, one of the behaviors displayed is the venomous bite, particularly relevant because it triggers snakebite incidents in humans.

Exploring the Role of Prey Availability as a Driver of Seasonal Shifts in Local Distribution of Vipers (Trimeresurus spp)

We investigated how seasonal shifts in precipitation and prey availability affect the distribution of arboreal pit vipers (Trimeresurus spp.) in northern Thailand. Trimeresurus were confined to streamside habitats during the dry season but expanded into hillsides during the wet season, mirroring amphibian movements.
