On the metabolism of the thrombin-like enzyme from the venom of bothrops atrox

Thrombosis Research, 1974
Abstract A clot promoting enzyme has been isolated from the venom of Bothrops atrox and found to possess a thrombin-like activity. On incubation of this enzyme with normal human serum or dog serum a slow inhibition of the enzymatic activity was demonstrated. For further studies of this phenomenon the enzyme was labelled with 125I-isotope.

Development of a neutralizing monoclonal antibody targeting Bothrops atrox venom metalloproteinases

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules
Snakebites are classified as a neglected tropical disease by the World Health Organization. In South America's tropical rainforests, Bothrops genus, particularly Bothrops atrox, is responsible for most incidents. Severe local effects, such as hemorrhage, are primarily caused by snake venom metalloproteinases (SVMPs), which are not fully neutralized by ...

The effect of temperature on the rigidity modulus of fibrin gels produced by Bothrops atrox venom

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1970
Abstract The effect of crude Bothrops atrox venom in gelating a solution of bovine prothrombin-free fibrinogen was examined by measuring the changes in the mechanical properties of the B. atrox venom fibrinogen system, using the Weissenberg rheogoniometer.
