Characterization of chitin synthase from Botrytis cinerea [PDF]
Chitin synthase in a microsomal preparation from Botrytis cinerea had an apparent Km for UDP-N-acetylglucosamine of 2.0 mM while nikkomycin Z and polyoxin D inhibited enzyme activity competitively with apparent Ki values of approximately 0.1 microM and 6 microM respectively.

A local regulatory network around three NAC transcription factors in stress responses and senescence in Arabidopsis leaves [PDF]
A model is presented describing the gene regulatory network surrounding three similar NAC transcription factors that have roles in Arabidopsis leaf senescence and stress responses. ANAC019, ANAC055 and ANAC072 belong to the same clade of NAC domain genes

Plants, like humans, have a microbiome that helps them grow, defend themselves against pathogens, acquire nutrients, and protect themselves against environmental stresses. The microbiome of tomatoes, a staple crop grown worldwide, could be utilized not only to reduce fertilizer and pesticide applications, but also to clean up harmful pollutants ...

Comparative study of proteases of pathogenic and saprophytic filamentous fungi
The presence of protein in the culture medium induced secretion of proteases in the studied filamentous fungi species. Comparative analysis of extracellular proteases expressed in vivo by saprotrophic (Trichoderma harzianum, Penicillium terlikowskii) and

Co‐application of Bacillus strains TM22 and MCM61 suppressed Fusarium wilt of cotton. Seed biopriming with Bacillus strains performed better than soil drenching. TM22 + MCM61 improved vegetative and physiological aspects in cotton plants. TM22 + MCM61 enhanced the activity of defense enzymes and defense gene expression.

Repression of the auxin response pathway increases Arabidopsis susceptibility to necrotrophic fungi
In plants, resistance to necrotrophic pathogens depends on the interplay between different hormone systems, such as those regulated by salicylic acid (SA), jasmonic acid (JA), ethylene, and abscisic acid.
