An Empirical Analysis of Determinants of Balance of Payments in Pakistan [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Management, Accounting and Economics, 2018
This study investigates the determinants of balance of payments for Pakistan between 1981 and 2016. This paper using ARDL bounds testing approach. ARDL technique is used to find the short run and long run relationship of these variables with BOP.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Improved Bounds for Testing Juntas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the problem of testing functions for the property of being a k-junta (i.e., of depending on at most kvariables). Fischer, Kindler, Ron, Safra, and Samorodnitsky (J. Comput. Sys. Sci., 2004) showed that $\tilde{O}(k^2)/\epsilon$ queries are sufficient to test k-juntas, and conjectured that this bound is optimal for non-adaptive testing ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

On the Upper Bounds of Test Statistics for a Single Outlier Test in Linear Regression Models

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2021
A bewildering large number of test statistics have been found for testing the presence of an outlier in multiple linear regression models. Exact critical values of these test statistics are not available, and approximate ones are usually obtained by the ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
