Approche multiscalaire de la nuptialité franco-belge

open access: yesEspace populations sociétés, 2005
Marriages between French and Belgians are considered here as an indicator of contacts between both populations across the boundary. The evolution through time and following different spatial scales proves a paradoxical effect of the border change ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The ways of construction of own space in South Slavic oral lyric

open access: yesEtnoantropološki Problemi, 2016
South Slavic oral lyric can form different spatial models. These models can be presented by house/castle, town or village as the enclosed spaces, but also by the open spaces, like a garden or vineyard. In both cases, it is important to note that they are

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Regional Rainfall Damage Functions to Estimate Direct Economic Losses in Rainstorms: A Case Study of the 2016 Extreme Rainfall Event in Hebei Province of China

open access: yesInternational Journal of Disaster Risk Science
Developing a regional damage function to quickly estimate direct economic losses (DELs) caused by heavy rain and floods is crucial for providing scientific supports in effective disaster response and risk reduction.

ON BERNOULLI'S FREE BOUNDARY PROBLEM WITH A RANDOM BOUNDARY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Uncertainty Quantification, 2017
This article is dedicated to the solution of Bernoulli’s exterior free boundary problem in the situation of a random interior boundary. We provide the theoretical background that ensures the well-posedness of the problem under consideration and describe two different frameworks to define the expectation and the deviation of the resulting annular domain.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Chebyshev Finite Difference Method for Fractional Boundary Value Problems

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Extension, 2015
This paper presents a numerical method for fractional differential equations using Chebyshev finite difference method. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Implementing the debt-for-nature swaps for marine protected areas: case studies from Seychelles and Belize

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications
As a financing method providing financial support for environmental protection, debt-for-nature swaps (DFNS) have been implemented for nearly forty years. DFNS have covered marine protected areas (MPAs) in four countries since 2015.
