Boundary Control and Stabilization of an Axially Moving Viscoelastic String under a Boundary Disturbance

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2017
In this paper, we consider a system modelling an axially moving viscoelastic string subject to an unknown boundary disturbance. It is controlled by a hydraulic touch-roll actuator at the right boundary which is capable of suppressing the transverse ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Stabilization of laminated beams with interfacial slip

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2015
We study a laminated beam consisting of two identical beams of uniform thickness, which is modeled as Timoshenko beams. An adhesive of small thickness is bonding the two layers and creating a restoring force producing a damping. It has been shown that

Approximate controllability of the coupled degenerate system with two boundary controls

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2017
In this paper, we investigate the approximate controllability of the coupled system with boundary degeneracy. The control functions act on the degenerate boundary. We prove the Carleman estimate and the unique continuation of the adjoint system.

Boundary Control for a Certain Class of Reaction-Advection-Diffusion System

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
There are physical phenomena, involving diffusion and structural vibrations, modeled by partial differential equations (PDEs) whose solution reflects their spatial distribution. Systems whose dynamics evolve on an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space, i.e.,

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

On Attainability of Optimal Solutions for Linear Elliptic Equations with Unbounded Coefficients

open access: yesVìsnik Dnìpropetrovsʹkogo Unìversitetu: Serìâ Modelûvannâ, 2011
We study an optimal boundary control problem (OCP) associated to a linear elliptic equation —div (Vj/ + A(x)Vy) = f describing diffusion in a turbulent flow. The characteristic feature of this equation is the fact that, in applications, the stream matrix

Exact and positive controllability of boundary control systems

open access: yesNetworks & Heterogeneous Media, 2017
Using the semigroup approach to abstract boundary control problems we characterize the space of all exactly reachable states. Moreover, we study the situation when the controls of the system are required to be positive. The abstract results are applied to flows in networks with static as well as dynamic boundary conditions.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Control problem for the hyperbolic equation with the characteristics having the angular coefficients of the same sign

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2012
The boundary control problem for the hyperbolic equation is considered for the case, when the angular coefficients of characteristics have the same sign. The control functions are constructed in an explicit form. The conditions of controllability are found
