The near wall effect of synthetic jets in a boundary layer
Copyright @ 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. An experimental investigation to analyse the qualitative near wall effect of synthetic jets in a laminar boundary layer has been undertaken for the purpose of identifying the types of vortical structures

Effect of the laminar separation bubble induced transition on the hydrodynamic performance of a hydrofoil [PDF]
The authors thank the technical staff of IRENav for their contribution to the experimental set up.The present study deals with the effect of the laminar separation bubble (LSB) induced transition on the lift, drag and moment coefficients of a hydrofoil ...

Investigation on the flow control of micro-vanes on a supersonic spinning projectile
Studies have shown that micro-wedge vortex generators (MVG) can effectively control the flow separation of supersonic boundary layer. In order to improve the flight stability of spinning projectile, the original standard 155 mm projectile was taken as an

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

An improved turbulent boundary layer inflow condition, applied to the simulation of jets in cross-flow [PDF]
The jet acting perpendicular to a cross-flow boundary layer is a commonly studied complex turbulent flow. Our research was motivated by their potential application in separation delay devices, where jets can be used to produce streamwise vortices in a ...

Investigation of computational techniques for the prediction of supersonic dynamic flows [PDF]
A computational investigation was undertaken to examine techniques for predicting supersonic dynamic flows, involving unsteadiness over fixed and moving surfaces. The fixed geometries examined were cylinder-flares and compression ramps, and the moving

Direct numerical simulations of forced and unforced separation bubbles on an airfoil at incidence [PDF]
Direct numerical simulations (DNS) of laminar separation bubbles on a NACA-0012 airfoil at Re-c = 5 x 10(4) and incidence 5 degrees are presented. Initially volume forcing is introduced in order to promote transition to turbulence.

Experimental study on control of highly unsteady separating flow
An attempt to control an unsteady flow separation from a flat plate surface using a jet ejection is carried out. The unsteady flow is artificially generated by periodically moving a curved ceiling up and down at a constant frequency.
