Slip boundaries in nanopores

Molecular Simulation, 2011
The flow of liquid water confined within slit pores formed from amorphous surfaces of carbon and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) has been investigated using molecular dynamics techniques. For PDMS (including plasma treated forms) the slip length is found to be very small, and there are essentially stick boundary conditions.

Boundary slip from the immersed boundary lattice Boltzmann models

Physical Review E, 2009
We report an interesting and important observation of the velocity fields from immersed boundary lattice Boltzmann methods (IB-LBM). The computed velocity profiles can deviate from theoretical predictions greatly even for very simple flow situations, both in the immersed boundary layer and the bulk region.

STRETCHING FLOWS WITH GENERAL SLIP BOUNDARY CONDITION

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2010
General slip boundary condition is used to solve the viscous incompressible flows induced by a stretching sheet. These flow problems corresponds to the planar and axisymmetric stretching. A similarity solution is developed by shooting method using Runge–Kutta algorithm.

Laminar flow behavior under slip−boundary conditions

The Physics of Fluids, 1975
Laminar flows past bodies under slip−boundary conditions are investigated theoretically within the framework of the Navier−Stokes equations. The numerical solutions to the equations are obtained using newly developed computer programs for incompressible fluid flows past elliptic cylinders and oblate spheroids.

Slip partitioning along major convergent plate boundaries

pure and applied geophysics, 1993
Along plate boundaries characterized by oblique convergence, earthquake slip vectors are commonly rotated toward the normal of the trench with respect to predicted plate motion vectors. Consequently, relative plate motion along such convergent margins must be partitioned between displacements along the thrust plate interface and deformation within the ...

Wall-mass effects on hydrodynamic boundary slip

Physical Review E, 2011
This paper investigates the combined effects of surface stiffness κ and wall particles' mass m(w) on the slip length. It aims to enhance our understanding of the momentum and energy transfer across solid-liquid interfaces. Elastic spring potentials are employed to simulate the thermal solid walls and model the surface stiffness κ.

No-Slip Hydrodynamic Boundary Condition for Hydrophilic Particles

Physical Review Letters, 2007
We describe measurement and interpretation of the force acting on a smooth hydrophilic glass particle during rapid (1-100 microm s(-1) approach to, and separation from, a hydrophilic glass plate in viscous concentrated aqueous sucrose solutions (0.001 Pa ...
