Entanglement entropy of topological orders with boundaries [PDF]
Abstract In this paper we explore how non trivial boundary conditions could influence the entanglement entropy in a topological order in 2+1 dimensions. Specifically we consider the special class of topological orders describable by the quantum double.

Monodomain Liquid Crystals of Two-Dimensional Sheets by Boundary-Free Sheargraphy
Highlights Monodomain liquid crystals of graphene oxide over 30 cm is realized by boundary-free sheargraphy. The achieved monodomain liquid crystals have bidirectional sheet ordering, exhibiting unique optical, rheological, and conductive properties ...

Localization and traces in open-closed topological Landau-Ginzburg models
We reconsider the issue of localization in open-closed B-twisted Landau-Ginzburg models with arbitrary Calabi-Yau target. Through careful analsysis of zero-mode reduction, we show that the closed model allows for a one-parameter family of localization ...

Time-reversal-invariant $C_2$-symmetric higher-order topological superconductors
We propose a minimal lattice model for two-dimensional class DIII superconductors with $C_2$-protected higher-order topology. While this class of superconductors cannot be topologically characterized by symmetry eigenvalues at high symmetry momenta, we ...

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Extraction of Connected Region Boundary in Multidimensional Images
This paper presents an algorithm to extract the boundary of a connected region(s) using classical topology definitions. From a given adjacency definition, the proposed method is able to extract the boundary of an object in a generic way, independently of

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Boundary localized symmetry breaking and topological defects [PDF]
We discuss the structure of topological defects in the context of extra dimensions where the symmetry breaking terms are localized. These defects develop structure in the extra dimension which differs from the case where symmetry breaking is not localized. This new structure can lead to corrections to the mass scale of the defects which is not captured
