Terminal value problems for first and second order nonlinear equations on time scales

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2008
In this paper we examine "terminal" value problems for dynamic equations on time scales - that is, a dynamic equation whose solutions are asymptotic at infinity.

Bounded and periodic solutions to the linear first-order difference equation on the integer domain

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2017
The existence of bounded solutions to the linear first-order difference equation on the set of all integers is studied. Some sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions converging to zero when n → − ∞ $n\to -\infty$ , as well as when n → + ∞ $n ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Solution structures of DNA-bound gyrase [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2010
The DNA gyrase negative supercoiling mechanism involves the assembly of a large gyrase/DNA complex and conformational rearrangements coupled to ATP hydrolysis. To establish the complex arrangement that directs the reaction towards negative supercoiling, bacterial gyrase complexes bound to 137- or 217-bp DNA fragments representing the starting ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A Characterization of Backward Bounded Solutions

open access: yesContemporary Mathematics
We prove that the collection M−∞ of backward bounded solutions for a semilinear evolution equation is the graph of an upper hemicontinuous set-valued function from the low Fourier modes to the higher Fourier modes, which is invariant and contains the global attractor.

A Generic Property of the Bounded Syzygy Solutions [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1992
For a set of masses having positive measure, excepting eventually a negligible set of initial conditions, every noncollinear bounded solution of the planar three-body problem that has a syzygy configuration encounters an infinity of such configurations. Along a noncollinear syzygy solution, the set of syzygy configuration instants is discrete.

Existence of bounded solutions for nonlinear fourth-order elliptic equations with strengthened coercivity and lower-order terms with natural growth

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
In this article, we consider nonlinear elliptic fourth-order equations with the principal part satisfying a strengthened coercivity condition, and a lower-order term having a "natural" growth with respect to the derivatives of the unknown function ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Improved approximation algorithms for degree-bounded network design problems with node connectivity requirements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We consider degree bounded network design problems with element and vertex connectivity requirements. In the degree bounded Survivable Network Design (SNDP) problem, the input is an undirected graph G = (V, E) with weights w(e) on the edges and degree ...
