The Role of Mycoplasma bovirhinis in the Development of Singular and Concomitant Respiratory Infections in Dairy Calves from Southern Brazil

open access: yesPathogens
The role of Mycoplasma bovirhinis in the development of pulmonary disease in cattle is controversial and was never evaluated in cattle from Latin America. This study investigated the respiratory infection dynamics associated with M.

S100A8/A9‐High Macrophages Activate Intestinal Fibroblasts via mCCL6/hCCL15‐CCR1 Axis to Drive Intestinal Fibrosis in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
S100A8/A9‐high macrophages are markedly enriched in the stenotic intestinal tissue of patients with Crohn's disease. These profibrotic macrophages secrete mCCL6 in a STAT3‐dependent manner. mCCL6 and its human ortholog hCCL15 activate fibroblasts via the CCR1 receptor, thereby driving excessive collagen deposition.

Porcine Deltacoronavirus M Protein Binds NLRP3 to Promote Inflammasome Assembly via Competition with TRIM31

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) infection induces severe intestinal inflammation and acute diarrhea in piglets, yet the molecular mechanism remains incompletely understood. The M protein activates NLRP3 inflammasome through dual mechanisms: direct binding to the NLRP3 LRR domain and disruption of TRIM31‐mediated K48‐linked ubiquitination.

Somatic Evolution of a Germline Antibody Expands its Breadth to Neutralize Early SARS‐CoV‐2 Omicron Variants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Engineering of the 148‐germline (148‐GL) antibody reveals a roadmap for overcoming SARS‐CoV‐2 viral escape. By introducing four specific somatic hypermutations, the resulting 148‐M4 variant restores potent neutralization against Omicron BA.1 and BA.4/5.

Isolation and Characterization of Contemporary Bovine Coronavirus Strains. [PDF]

open access: yesViruses
Bovine coronavirus (BCoV) poses a threat to cattle health worldwide, contributing to both respiratory and enteric diseases. However, few contemporary strains have been isolated. In this study, 71 samples (10 nasal and 61 fecal) were collected from one farm in Ohio in 2021 and three farms in Georgia in 2023. They were screened by BCoV-specific real-time

Deltacoronavirus Modulates circRNA cGLIS3 Metabolism to Evade Host Antiviral Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that both deltacoronavirus nucleocapsid protein and host RNA binding protein IGF2BP2 promote circular RNA GLIS3 (cGLIS3) biogenesis by binding to GLIS3 pre‐mRNA. The m6A modification‐mediated cGLIS3‐IGF2BP2 interaction weakens RNase L‐mediated degradation of cGLIS3 while facilitates a ubiquitin‐dependent degradation of IGF2BP2, thus ...
