Loss of ADAP1/CentA1 Protects Against Autoimmune Demyelination

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 9, 15 May 2025.
ADAP1/CentA1 is an actin‐binding protein highly expressed in neurons. Our study describes a novel immunomodulatory function for ADAP1/CentA1 in the context of autoimmune demyelination. Mice lacking ADAP1/CentA1 were found partially resistant to the multiple sclerosis (MS) model experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) due to an altered ...

Is Zebrafish a Good Model for the Alpha‐Gal Syndrome?

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 9, 15 May 2025.
ABSTRACT The alpha‐Gal syndrome (AGS) is an underdiagnosed tick‐borne allergy characterized by both immediate and delayed IgE‐mediated anaphylactic reactions to the galactose‐alpha‐1,3‐galactose (alpha‐Gal) epitope. Common manifestations include gastrointestinal, cutaneous, and respiratory symptoms appearing 2–6 h after the consumption of mammalian ...

Singularity and Symmetry Analyses for Tuberculosis Epidemics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We analyse the model of Tuberculosis due to Blower (Nature Medecine 1(8) 815-821) from the point of view of symmetry and singularity analysis. From the study we provide a demonstration of the integrability of the model to present an explicit solution.

The Ophthalmic Test for Bovine Tuberculosis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Pathology and Therapeutics, 1911
Summary Of sixty-eight animals subjected to the combined test (Table I), fifty-four were negative, eight showed both reactions, one was indefinite (both tests), and five disagreed. Of forty-six animals subjected to the simple ophthalmic test (Table II), there was agreement between the two tests in thirty-five cases.

Substitution of Glutamic Acid at Position 71 of DRβ1*04:01 and Collagen‐Specific Tolerance Without Alloreactivity

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Volume 77, Issue 5, Page 526-535, May 2025.
Objective The DRB1 locus is strongly associated with both susceptibility and resistance to rheumatoid arthritis (RA). DRB1 alleles encoding the VKA or VRA epitope in positions 11, 71, and 74 confer the highest risk of developing RA, whereas the allele encoding VEA is protective.
