Profiling Major Livestock Diseases in the East Gojjam Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia, Using Participatory Epidemiology Methods

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Participatory epidemiology identified CBPP, LSD, FMD and sheep/goat pox as the major livestock diseases in East Gojjam, Ethiopia, highlighting strong community‐based disease recognition and emphasizing the value of integrating local knowledge into veterinary surveillance and disease control systems.

Outbreaks of pneumonia in beef calves associated with bovine viral diarrhea virus seroconversion and other respiratory pathogens

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Research, 2005
The present study describes the clinical, serological and bacteriolological findings in calves from two beef herds experiencing outbreaks of pneumonia. The clinical signs were nasal discharge, cough, pyrexia and increased respiratory rates.

Tuning Mechanoreceptor Signaling Enhances the Adjuvant Effect of Biomaterial Vaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 66, 17 August 2026.
Matrix stiffness serves as an independent immunological signal in biomaterial vaccines. Stiffer microporous hydrogel vaccines enhance dendritic cell maturation and migration to draining lymph nodes, promote T follicular helper cell expansion through Yap/Taz signaling, and increase antigen‐specific antibody production.

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 31, 21 August 2026.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

Enhanced pathogenicity and synergistic effects of co-infection with bovine viral diarrhea virus 1 and HoBi-like virus in cattle and guinea pigs

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionThe Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus 1 (BVDV1) and HoBi-like virus (BVDV3), both within the same genus, share genomic homology and exhibit low antigenic cross-reactivity despite presenting similar clinical manifestations.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 46, 17 August 2026.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Current trends in bovine abortion in Argentina

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira
: Bovine abortion is an important cause of significant economic losses in beef and dairy herds. This syndrome is usually difficult to diagnose. The aim of this study was to characterize bovine abortion causes in Argentina by standard diagnosis procedures

Nonviral Gold Nanoparticle‐Mediated Delivery of CRISPR‐Cas9 Ribonucleoprotein and Long DNA Transgenes Into Primary Blood Cells

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.
CRISPR/Cas9 has revolutionized the field of gene therapy, but delivery remains an outstanding issue. We propose a nonviral gold‐nanoparticle platform for co‐delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 ribonucleoprotein and long 2.1 kilobase dsDNA transgene constructs. This CRISPR‐AuNP is inexpensive to produce and mediate gene editing and DNA delivery in T cells and CD34+

The Neuroprotective Potentials of Dual GIP/GLP1‐RA (Tirzepatide): From Preclinical Experiments to Clinical Trials: A Scoping Review

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
The graphical abstract summarizes the current evidence on the potential neuroprotective effects of tirzepatide (TZP), a dual GIP/GLP‐1 receptor agonist, across mechanistic, preclinical, and clinical domains. Mechanistically, TZP is proposed to exert direct neural effects, preserve mitochondrial function, reduce apoptosis, oxidative stress, and ...
