Characterization of bovine viral diarrhea virus RNA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1975
RNA extracted from isopycnically banded [3-H]uridine-labeled bovine viral diarrhea virus with sodium dodecyl sulfate was resolved into one major and two minor components by both sedimentation analysis and electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gels. The major RNA component was estimated to have a 38S sedimentation coefficient.

Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus in Cattle From Mexico: Current Status

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2021
Bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) is an infectious disease, globally-distributed, caused by bovine Pestiviruses, endemic of cattle and other ruminant populations. BVD leads to significant economic losses to the cattle industry due to the wide range of clinical

Development of a One-Step Multiplex Real-Time PCR Assay for the Detection of Viral Pathogens Associated With the Bovine Respiratory Disease Complex

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
Bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC) occurs widely in cattle farms. The main viral pathogens include bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV), Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1), bovine parainfluenza virus type 3 (BPIV3), and bovine respiratory syncytial virus

Control of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus in Ruminants

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2010
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a diverse group of viruses responsible for causing disease in ruminants worldwide. Since the first description of BVDV as a cause of disease, it has undergone surges and lulls in importance. Epizootics of disease caused by BVDV are described. Although naming of the virus and illness implies gastrointestinal disease

Metagenomic Investigation of Pathogenic RNA Viruses Causing Diarrhea in Sika Deer Fawns

open access: yesViruses
Diarrhea is a common disease in sika deer. The causes of diarrhea in sika deer are complex and involve a variety of pathogens. Additionally, new virulent pathogens are continuously emerging, which poses a serious threat to deer’s health and particularly ...

Immune evasion strategies of bovine viral diarrhea virus

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2023
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a significant pathogen that causes great economic losses in the global livestock industry. During the long-term interactions between BVDV and its hosts, the virus has evolved multiple strategies to evade the host’s ...

Serological response of the bovine fetus to bovine viral diarrhea virus [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1979
Susceptible pregnant heifers were inoculated with bovine viral diarrhea virus at 150 days of gestation and earlier. Fetuses were surgically collected at selected times after inoculation. Serum immunoglobulins were quantitated, and the presence of specific antibodies was determined.

Seroprevalence of Bovine Viral Diarrhea on Smallholder Farms on the Territory of Belgrade City

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2021
Bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) is a viral disease of cattle with a high economic impact. To estimate the seroprevalence of Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) infection of cattle on smallholder farms we included 78 smallholder farms in the Belgrade ...
