CARRYING BEHAVIOR IN BRACHYURAN CRABS
Journal of Crustacean Biology, 1986ABSTRACT Carrying is a behavior in which the last one or two pairs of pereiopods of a crab are used to lift and hold an object dorsally over the body. This behavior is found in the families Homolidae, Latreilliidae, Dromiidae, Tymolidae, and Dorippidae.

Accuracy and standardization of brachyuran larval descriptions
Invertebrate Reproduction & Development, 1998Summary There is a need for improvement and standardization in larval descriptions for them to become useful not only for identification purposes but also in comparative and phylogenetic studies. Details of the rearing technique and equipment used should be given, the spent female crab and representative larval stages need to be deposited at a national

AUTOTOMY IN THE BRACHYURAN, UCA PUGNAX
The Biological Bulletin, 1937A study of the extent to which the anomuran Porcellana platycheles will autotomize its legs on single stimulation of successive appendages has shown (Hoadley, 1934) that there is a clear-cut and fundamental difference between the behavior of males and of females bearing eggs.

The Main Features of Brachyuran Evolution
Systematic Zoology, 1971Stevci6, Zdravko. (Center for Marine Research, Rovinj, Yugoslavia). 1971. The main features of brachyuran evolution. Syst. Zool., 20:331-340.-Past studies of the evolution of the Brachyura (crabs, Crustacea: Decapoda) have, in general, provided conflicting and unsatisfactory results.

Distribution and Affinities of the Brachyuran Crustacea
Systematic Zoology, 1960KNOWLEDGE of the decapod crustaceans, and particularly, of the Brachyura, or short-tailed crabs, of the Baja California-Gulf of California region, goes back barely a century and may be said to date from the early work of John Xantus, who established for the U. S.

Settlement Patterns of Brachyuran Megalopae in a Louisiana Estuary
Estuaries, 2001Artificial substrate collectors were used to sample settled brachyuran megalopae in Terrebonne Bay, Louisiana, northern Gulf of Mexico. Three taxa,Callinectes sapidus, Uca spp., andRhithropanopeus harrisii, were the most common settlers. Settlement occurred almost year-round, although settlement densities were highest in late summer and early fall.

KEYS TO THE IDENTIFICATION OF BRACHYURAN LARVAE OF THE BLACK SEA
Crustaceana, 2000[The Black Sea fauna has been studied for a long time, whence the adult crabs of this region are rather well known. However, not enough attention has been paid to their larval development. Despite the extensive literature concerning the order Decapoda pertaining to the Black Sea, there is no key for the identification of the brachyuran larvae.

Development of epipods and gills in some pagurids and brachyurans
Journal of Natural History, 1988The development of gills is described in zoea and megalopa stages of the following 16 species of decapods, and the patterns of gill development are discussed in terms of phylogenetic relationships of the larvae: Pagurus prideaux Leach, Pagurus bernhardus (Linnaeus), Inachus dorsettensis (Pennant), Hyas araneus (Linnaeus), Eurynome aspera (Pennant ...
