Targeting Histamine H4 Receptor in the Rostral Ventromedial Medulla to Relieve Hypertension

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
H4R and its downstream TRPV1 channel mediate the excitatory effect of TMN histaminergic afferent inputs on GABAergic sympathoinhibitory neurons in RVMM. Intranasal delivery of selective H4R agonist VUF 8430 suppresses renal sympathetic outflow and elicits sustained depressor and bradycardia responses in SHRs and CUMS‐induced hypertensive rats ...

Dengue and Relative Bradycardia

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2007
To the Editor: We have found that relative bradycardia is a notable clinical feature of dengue fever in Singapore. To our knowledge, this sign has not been previously associated with dengue. Awareness of this possible clinical finding could help in the early recognition of dengue and potentially reduce illness and death associated with dengue virus ...

Type 2 Diabetes‐Associated Phenylacetylglutamine Induces Deleterious Inflammation Cycle in Myeloid Cells through β2 Adrenergic Receptors and Impedes Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The microbiota‐derived metabolite phenylacetylglutamine (PAGln) is elevated in type 2 diabetes and tightly associated with poor healing in both diabetic and non‐diabetic human patients. PAGln promotes mouse inflammation and impairs healing through a transmissible β2‐adrenergic receptor–mediated trained‐immunity loop.

Development of a Scoring System to Predict the Treatment Success for Nonoperative Management of Peptic Ulcer Perforation: A Secondary Data Analysis of PPAP Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although surgical treatment is the primary measure for patients with perforated peptic ulcer (PPU), nonoperative management (NOM) has become a common alternative. However, risk score models predicting the success of NOM based on the analysis of a large number of patients remain scarce.

Atypical Presentation of Massive Pulmonary Embolism, a Case Report

open access: yesArchives of Academic Emergency Medicine, 2018
The lack of pathognomonic signs and symptoms makes the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE) difficult. Here, we report a case of a 42-year-old man presented to the emergency department with worsening epigastric pain, hypotension, frank bradycardia, and ...

Perioperative and anesthetic deaths: toxicological and medico legal aspects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: Anesthesia has become safer during decades, though there is still a preventable mortality; the complexity of medical and surgical interventions, increasingly older and sicker patients, has created a host of new hazards in anesthesiology.
