Thermo‐Derived Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Elastomer Pattern with Composite Structural Colors

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A thermochromic cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) oligomer was synthesized for the preparation of CLC elastomer (CLCE) films with dual reflection bands. Subsequently, a CLCE pattern with composite structural colors was prepared, which was suitably applied for decoration and anti‐counterfeiting.

On-chip photoelectric hybrid convolutional accelerator based on Bragg grating array

open access: yesResults in Physics
We propose an on-chip photoelectric hybrid convolution accelerator based on Bragg grating array. The weight of the convolution kernel can be adjusted by controlling the central wavelengths of the Bragg grating array.

Bioresorbable optical fiber Bragg gratings [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2018
We demonstrate, for the first time, an inscription and wet dissolution study of Bragg gratings in a bioresorbable calcium-phosphate glass optical fiber. Bragg gratings, with average refractive index changes of 5.8×10-4, were inscribed using 193 nm excimer laser radiation.

A fibre Bragg grating based inclinometer system for ground movement measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The measurement of ground movement is an essential part of many geotechnical engineering operations. For decades, inclinometer systems have traditionally been used for this purpose to provide crucial information to engineers and researchers.

Revealing the Transmission Hologram's Refractive Index Profile Stored in a Photohydrogel: A Structural Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A theoretical model is developed to visualize three‐dimensional refractive index profiles in transmission holographic gratings. In this work, it is applied to photopolymerizable hydrogels, enabling detailed analysis of the internal structure of recorded holograms and their evolution under different degradation conditions.

A Bragg grating sensor for detection of monolayers at a surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Planar waveguides can be written with a UV-laser into photosensitized silica to produce a wide range of optical devices. Careful modulation of two interfering beams allows Bragg gratings to be directly written into the channel (Figure 1.a).

Waveguide Geometry–Driven Trade‐Offs in Resonant Cavity Sensor Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Waveguide geometry governs the interplay between sensitivity, intrinsic Q‐factor, and wavelength noise in silicon nitride resonant sensors. Contrary to intuition, higher sensitivity does not ensure superior performance. Low‐noise, high‐Q ridge resonators achieve the lowest detection limits, revealing that detection is ultimately constrained by noise ...

A fiber Bragg grating direct current sensor with temperature compensation based on electromagnetic force

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
A novel fiber Bragg grating direct current sensor with intrinsic temperature compensation is presented in this article. The operating principle of the sensor is based on the deflection of a cantilever beam due to the electromagnetic force between a ...
