Super Yang-Mills theories with inhomogeneous mass deformations

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We construct the 4-dimensional N = 1 2 $$ \mathcal{N}=\frac{1}{2} $$ and N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1 inhomogeneously mass-deformed super Yang-Mills theories from the N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1* and N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2* theories, respectively, and analyse ...

(p − 1)-bracket for Dp-branes in large R-R field background

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
The volume-preserving diffeomorphism is a key feature that characterizes the large constant R-R (p − 1)-form field background in a Dp-brane theory. It represents a symmetry of the theory that preserves the volume of space.

Brane-like States in Superstring Theory and the Dynamics of non-Abelian Gauge Theories

open access: yes, 1997
We propose a string-theoretic ansatz describing the dynamics of SU(N) Yang-Mills theories in the limit of large N in D=4. The construction uses in a crucial way open-string vertex operators that describe non-perturbative brane dynamics. According to our proposal, various gauge theories are described by string theories with the same action, but with ...

Open String Renormalization Group Flow as a Field Theory

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 72, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract This article shows that the integral flow‐lines of the RG‐flow of open string theory can be interpreted as the solitons of a Hořova–Lifshitz sigma‐model of open membranes. The authors argue that the effective background description of this model implies the g‐theorem of open string theory.

One loop phenomenology of type II string theory: intersecting d-branes and noncommutativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We examine one loop amplitudes for open and closed strings in certain D-brane configurations, and investigate the consequences for phenomenology. Initially we consider open strings at D6-brane intersections.

Gauge/Bethe correspondence from quiver BPS algebras

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We study the Gauge/Bethe correspondence for two-dimensional N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = (2, 2) supersymmetric quiver gauge theories associated with toric Calabi-Yau three-folds, whose BPS algebras have recently been identified as the quiver Yangians.

de Sitter State in Heterotic String Theory

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 72, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract Recent no‐go theorems have ruled out four‐dimensional classical de Sitter vacua in heterotic string theory. On the other hand, the absence of a well‐defined Wilsonian effective action and other related phenomena also appear to rule out such time‐dependent vacua with de Sitter isometries, even in the presence of quantum corrections.

Topological BPS charges in 10- and 11-dimensional supergravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this thesis we construct closed expressions that correspond to the topological charges of the various BPS branes of the IIA, IIB and $D=11$ supergravity theories. These expressions are related to the structure of the SUSY algebras in curved spacetimes.

Gauge coupling unification in E 6 F-theory GUTs with matter and bulk exotics from flux breaking

open access: yes, 2013
We consider gauge coupling unification in E 6 F-Theory Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) where E 6 is broken to the Standard Model (SM) gauge group using fluxes. In such models there are two types of exotics that can affect gauge coupling unification, namely

String/Gauge Duality and Penrose Limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Berenstein, Maldacena, and Nastase have recently discovered a particular limit of AdS/CFT correspondence where string theory in a plane wave background is dual to a sector of $mathcal N =4 SYM in a double scaling limit.
