Transgenic Broccoli (Brassica oleracea Var. italica) and Cabbage (Var. capitata)

2001
Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica) and cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) are two of the many economically important vegetable crops of the B. oleracea species. Broccoli is grown for its large, edible, very young inflorescences and has two different distinct forms.

Characterization of a cinnamoyl derivative from broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica) florets

Fitoterapia, 2010
A new intact glucosinolate Cinnamoyl derivative [6'-O-trans-(4″- hydroxy cinnamoyl)-4-(methylsulphinyl) butyl glucosinolate] (A) has been isolated from Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica) florets. The compound was isolated and characterized by LC, MS-ESI, FTIR, (1)H and (13)C NMR as well as (1)H-(1)H COSY, DEPT 135° spectrometric experiments.

Biochemical Characterization of Cystine Lyase from Broccoli (Brassica oleracea Var. italica)

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1999
Cystine lyase is the enzyme responsible for off-aroma deterioration in fresh unblanched broccoli. In this research, cystine lyase purification from broccoli has been optimized. Only one protein peak with cystine lyase activity was found during purification. Broccoli cystine lyase was purified 100-fold to homogeneity.

Purification and Partial Characterization of Broccoli (Brassica oleraceaVar.Italica) Peroxidases

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2005
Three peroxidase (POD) isoenzymes were purified from a soluble extract of broccoli stems. The acidic and neutral PODs were purified to homogeneity by using ion exchange and hydrophobic chromatography. The basic POD was purified by cation exchange and gel filtration chromatography. The neutral and basic PODs had molecular masses of approximately 43 kDa,

Characterization of polyphenol oxidase from broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis italica) florets

Food Chemistry, 2007
Abstract Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) from broccoli florets was extracted and purified through (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 precipitation, ion-exchange and gel filtration chromatography. The molecular weight was estimated to lie between 51.3 and 57 kDa by sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and gel filtration. The effects of substrate
