Structural changes in metallothionein isoforms revealed by capillary electrophoresis and Brdicka reaction

ELECTROPHORESIS, 2012
AbstractMetallothionein (MT) as a potential cancer marker is at the center of interest and its properties, functions and behavior under various conditions is intensively studied. In the present study, two major mammalian MT isoforms (MT‐1 and MT‐2) were separated using capillary electrophoresis (CE) coupled with UV detector in order to describe their ...

Polarographic Study of Serum Proteins in Rheumatic Diseases by the Brdicka Reaction

Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, 1974
The polarographic Brdicka filtrate reaction was studied in patients with rheumatic diseases. Abnormal reactions were observed, both before and after alkali denaturation, in rheumatoid arthritis, Reiter's disease, polymyositis and ankylosing spondylitis. The reaction was normal in osteoarthritis.

Effects of Reduced Glutathione, Surface Active Agents, and Ionic Strength on the Detection of Metallothioneins by Using of Brdicka Reaction

Electroanalysis, 2009
AbstractWe investigated the effects of two surface active agents (sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS, and polyoxyethylene sorbitol, Tween‐20), ionic strength and reduced glutathione (GSH) on MT signals measured by adsorptive transfer stripping differential pulse voltammetry Brdicka reaction.

Comparison of Metallothionein Detection by Using Brdicka Reaction and Enzyme‐Linked Immunosorbent Assay Employing Chicken Yolk Antibodies

Electroanalysis, 2009
AbstractIn this study, two methods for metallothioneins (MT) determination in a biological sample were compared. Particularly, twenty five human and nine pig blood serum samples and liver and kidney samples from thirty five carps (Cyprinus carpio) were analyzed by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay and differential pulse voltammetry Brdicka's reaction ...
