Kinetics and manipulation of hyphal breakage and its effect on antibiotic production

Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 1999
Erythromycin production in 1.5 l continuous cultures of Saccharopolyspora erythraea, was correlated with the mean mycelial fragment size, which was influenced by culture agitation (750–1 500 rev./min marine/disk turbine impellors). Kinetic parameters for hyphal breakage were determined, and revealed that more highly branched mycelial fragments (hyphal ...

Some solutions for the kinetics of combined fracture and abrasion breakage

Powder Technology, 1986
Abstract A phenomenological description of autogenous breakage of ores is accomplished by considering the simultaneous occurrence of fracture- and abrasion-like processes. A general differential equation is derived and solved for the batch abrasion phenomenon with and without fracture breakage of lumps within a screen size interval.

Analysis of the kinetics of coal breakage by wet grinding in the szego mill

Powder Technology, 1985
Abstract This paper deals with the mechanism of breakage of Pittsburgh coal in the Szego mill, for the preparation of coal-grade 2 oil and coal-water slurries. Following a brief introduction to the mill and its operation, the kinetics of coal breakage is discussed.

Isoelectric precipitation of soy protein. II. Kinetics of protein aggregate growth and breakage

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1983
AbstractProtein aggregate growth and breakage in agitated suspensions are modeled. The model includes growth of particles by a turbulent collision mechanism and breakage by a hydrodynamic shear mechanism. In the model, breakage results in the splitting of the particles into several small fragments.

Kinetics of Loop Formation and Breakage in the Denatured State of Iso-1-cytochrome c

Journal of Molecular Biology, 2005
The earliest events in protein folding involve the formation of simple loops. Observing the rates of loop closure under denaturing conditions can provide direct insight into the relative probability and sequence determinants for formation of loops of different sizes.

The effect of mill speed on kinetic breakage parameters of clinker and limestone

Cement and Concrete Research, 2004
Abstract In this study, the effect of mill speed was investigated on the limestone and the clinker samples of Goltas Cement Factory (Isparta, Turkey) at batch grinding conditions based on a kinetic model. For this purpose, first, six different monosize fractions were carried out between 0.850 and 0.106 mm formed by a two-sieve series.

Acoustic emission and kinetic fracture theory for time-dependent breakage of granite

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2018
Abstract Earthquakes, mine failures, and initiation of hydraulic fractures have all been associated with time-delayed breakage of rocks subjected to loads insufficient to incur instantaneous failure. To better model and identify failure precursors for rocks under these so-called static fatigue conditions, Acoustic Emission (AE) was monitored in beams

Influence of interstitial filling on breakage kinetics of gypsum in ball mill

Advanced Powder Technology, 2011
Abstract Gypsum is an industrial material used in many applications such as building and chemical industry, fertilizer manufacture, medicine and dentistry. In these industries, there is need for finely ground gypsum. Energy consumption is very high in grinding processes.
