Reliability Characteristics of Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor Capacitors with Low-Dielectric-Constant Materials

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
In this study, the reliability characteristics of metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) capacitor structures with low-dielectric-constant (low-k) materials have been investigated in terms of metal gate area and geometry and thickness of dielectric film ...

Impact of Anode Thickness on Breakdown Mechanisms in Vertical GaN PiN Diodes with Planar Edge Termination

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
GaN vertical PiN diodes with different anode thicknesses were fabricated on three native GaN wafers with the same p-layer doping concentrations, and planar hybrid edge termination.

Eastern filbert blight resistant Corylus avellana identified from 20 years of germplasm introduction and evaluation at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
The stem canker disease eastern filbert blight (EFB), caused by Anisogramma anomala, is a major impediment of European hazelnut (Corylus avellana) production in the United States.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Effect of Frequency on Degradation in BOPP Films Under Repetitively Pulsed Voltage

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
Operating conditions of film capacitors are complex, and the problem of film insulation failure caused by repetitively pulsed voltage is becoming ever serious.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Theoretical Investigation of the Phenomenon of Space Charge Breakdown in Electromembrane Systems

open access: yesMembranes, 2022
At present, it is customary to consider the overlimit operating modes of electromembrane systems to be effective, and electroconvection as the main mechanism of overlimiting transfer.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
