In vitro and in vivo inhibition of breast cancer cell growth by targeting the Hedgehog/GLI pathway with SMO (GDC-0449) or GLI (GANT-61) inhibitors. [PDF]
Aberrant Hedgehog (Hh)/glioma-associated oncogene (GLI) signaling has been implicated in cancer progression. Here, we analyzed GLI1, Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) and NF-κB expression in 51 breast cancer (ductal carcinoma) tissues using immunohistochemistry ...

In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

A Deep Analysis of Transfer Learning Based Breast Cancer Detection Using Histopathology Images [PDF]
Breast cancer is one of the most common and dangerous cancers in women, while it can also afflict men. Breast cancer treatment and detection are greatly aided by the use of histopathological images since they contain sufficient phenotypic data. A Deep Neural Network (DNN) is commonly employed to improve accuracy and breast cancer detection.

I. The Results of Radical Operations for the Cure of Carcinoma of the Breast.
It is especially true of breast cancer that the surgeon interested in furnishing the best statistics may in perfectly honorable ways provide them. The most conscientious man may refuse to operate upon any but favorable cases, and, by performing an ...

Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

Using convolutional neural networks for the classification of breast cancer images [PDF]
An important part of breast cancer staging is the assessment of the sentinel axillary node for early signs of tumor spreading. However, this assessment by pathologists is not always easy and retrospective surveys often requalify the status of a high proportion of sentinel nodes.

Carcinoma En Cuirasse: A Rare but Striking Cutaneous Manifestation of Metastatic Breast Cancer [PDF]
Carcinoma en cuirasse is a rare cutaneous metastatic presentation of breast cancer with a poor prognosis. We report a female in her 70s with a prior history of left breast ductal carcinoma in situ status post-radiation and lumpectomy who presented with ...

Myoepithelial Carcinoma of the Breast
Breast carcinoma is the commonest cancer among females in a majority of the Indian cities. The advances in the research and management have improved the breast cancer survival significantly in the past three decades globally. Adenocarcinoma is the commonest histological variant which arises from the ductal epithelia.

Classification of breast cancer histology images using Convolutional Neural Networks
Breast cancer is one of the main causes of cancer death worldwide. The diagnosis of biopsy tissue with hematoxylin and eosin stained images is non-trivial and specialists often disagree on the final diagnosis.

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.
