Invasive lobular breast carcinoma metastatic to the colon: a case report of a rare condition and its challenges

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oncology, 2021
The most common sites for metastatic breast neoplasm are the bones, lungs, liver, and central nervous system. Metastases to the gastrointestinal tract are rare and especially involve the stomach, more than to the colon.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Breast adenoid cystic carcinoma: An uncommon neoplasm- Case report

open access: yes, 2023
Introduction: Adenoid cystic carcinoma is a neoplasm that is commonly of salivary gland origin. It could infrequently arise from other tissues such as breast in which case it behaves favorably despite belonging to triple-negative breast cancer subgroup ...

Life quality of women with breast cancer after mastectomy or breast conserving therapy treated with adjuvant chemotherapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Introduction Breast cancer is the most frequent malignant neoplasm in women. The evaluation of the quality of life has become a treatment parameter as important as survival.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Human papilloma virus and breast cancer: the role of inflammation and viral expressed proteins

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2019
Breast cancer is currently the most common neoplasm diagnosed in women globally. There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that human papillomavirus (HPV) infection may play a key role in invasiveness of breast cancer.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

A case report of metaplastic carcinoma of breast [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2001
Metaplastic carcinoma is a rare form of breast cancer and is a generic term for breast carcinoma of ductal type in which the predominant component of the neoplasm has an appearance other than epithelial glandular structures. We report a case of this rare ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

The accuracy of fine needle aspiration biopsy to diagnose breast neoplasm

open access: yes, 2017
Breast lump is a very common complaint among women, especially during the reproductive year. Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) is a less invasive procedure. It is usually performed as an initial diagnosis prior to the operative procedure. The accuracy
